While the ocean cruise is the most common manifestation of this romantic and indulgent form of travel, it is worth looking into the broad range of other cruise options that are on offer. An excellent option for the adventurous traveler who doesn’t like water is the Desert Cruise, where guests are pampered in a luxurious silver Viking ship pulled across the Sahara by camels draped in roses, beginning in Timbuktu and ending seven fun-filled weeks later in Djibouti. (Unfortunately however we cannot book any flights out of Djibouti and you will have to return to Timbuktu by camel-powered Viking boat in order to make your way home – it’s double the fun time!)
